Pennsylvania

Day 118 / Mile 15,215

After getting hyped up at the roller derby, it was my turn to get skating along too.

From my research, I didn't find anything that suited my photography style or own interests in Delaware. (I'm sure there are great places, I just haven't discover any yet) I had to at least cross the border to keep with the goal of visiting every state in the contiguous USA.

Hey Delaware have you heard of OREGON, no tax there either? Well, you were first so...

Ouch, harsh road quality change going into Pennsylvania. You'd think since they tax your shopping experience they could afford to tune up the roads, eh?

Had to make a u-turn to photograph this mailbox for my ongoing series documenting people's "postal personas".

Deep deep in the country, is this town. A little tongue-in-cheek humor is always fun.

In hindsight, I should have photographed this from the other side, showcasing the in-out rather than out-in. Hahahaa, grow up!

From the heart of the Amish countryside, I ventured into the big city of Philadelphia.

Street photography of street art.

A light rain made a lovely reflection at Love Park.

If you're a skateboarder from the 90's, you know of this iconic gap into the fountain.

In a sketchy neighborhood in Southwest Philly is a equally sketchy cemetery.

The gate was wide open, because it is uncloseable.

This building is going to need it's own tombstone soon.

...the graveyard is dying itself.

I never thought I'd see an abandoned graveyard in a major city. So creepy.

A circle of life.

Up north I had another location that was equally as bizarre, a town that has been abandoned because of poisonous gasses leaking from the ground. About 50 years ago Centralia was a booming city from it's local coal mining, but an accident happened... somehow a small fire at the landfill ignited the series of underground coal deposits and it's residents evacuated.

It was too windy to show in a photo, but deadly gas was steaming out of this hole.

Guess what this stretch of road is nicknamed? Give up, the "graffiti highway".

Rumors were the ground was still super hot. I didn't wait to find out if my shoes were going to melt.

Keep going, or hold your breath.

The movie Silent Hill was filmed here. This church is one of the couple buildings that remain.

Like Delaware, I didn't have much I wanted to venture too far to see in New Jersey.

The route I took didn't even have a proper welcome sign to New Jersey.

There are something like 50 Futuro Houses left in the world, which were made back in the 1960's.  This one here was transformed into a park maintenance building with that heinous doorway.Anyways, RIP Spock.
